The Challenge

Safetrack and Arc Infrastructure helps manage a vast rail freight network across Western Australia, where extreme temperatures often exceed 50°C, posing a serious challenge for battery-powered railway signalling systems. Previous battery solutions failed in this harsh environment, putting mission-critical infrastructure at risk, forcing a costly replacement of failing batteries every few years, and resulting in repeated site visits over vast distances for maintenance and fault diagnosis.

The Solution

In 2022, Safetrack and Arc Infrastructure partnered with Arvio Technology to deploy advanced long-life battery systems across key signalling sites, designed to operate in extreme heat and with no need for external cooling systems to stay safe. Arvio's superior battery technology was combined with remote diagnostics via the EJOS™ battery management platform, giving Safetrack/Arc Infrastructure unprecedented real time, 24/7 visibility and control.

Solution Delivered

• Long-life Arvio batteries proven to withstand extreme heat and humidity

• Real-time remote monitoring and fault diagnostics via EJOS™

• Reduced site visits and increased system uptime

The Result

Since installation, there have been the client reports no battery failures at upgraded sites across upgraded sites—a major breakthrough in system reliability. The ability to remotely diagnose and manage performance has transformed operations, saving time, reducing risk, and supporting reliable rail signalling.

“Arvio’s remote diagnostics have been invaluable. We’re eager to roll this out to more sites for greater control and reliability.”

— Luke Tomlinson, Electrical/Signalling Supervisor, Arc Infrastructure

Safetrack and Arc Infrastructure is now equipped with a smarter, more resilient energy solution—proving that with the right technology, even the harshest environments can run reliably.
