Battery Resilience Upgrade for Remote Transmitters

The Challenge

SSi Canada, one of Northern Canada’s largest ISPs, delivers broadband connectivity to some of the most remote and coldest communities on Earth. With temperatures dropping as low as -63°C, traditional battery systems powering their transmitter sites were prone to frequent failures —disrupting service in areas where connectivity is essential.

The Solution

In 2022, SSi Canada partnered with ARVIO Technology to deploy a robust energy solution built for extreme conditions. Several ARVIO Longlife batteries were installed at transmitter sites in the most challenging locations. These batteries, engineered for durability in harsh climates without need for external heating, are continuously monitored in real time via the EJOS Battery Management System developed by ARVIO in Melbourne, Australia.

Solution Delivered

• ARVIO batteries have proven proven to withstand sub-zero extremes.

• Real-time monitoring via the EJOS AI-powered system.

• Uninterrupted power supply with zero recorded failures to date.

The Result

Since installation, SSi Canada has not experienced a single battery failure at upgraded sites—a transformative improvement in operational reliability. The combination of rugged hardware and intelligent monitoring ensures 24/7 uptime in some of the world’s toughest environments.

SSi continues to connect the North with confidence; proving that with the right technology, even the most remote communities can count on resilient, reliable infrastructure.
